Best PETG Print Settings
A PETG settings guide: temperatures, speed, cooling, and bed adhesion — for clean, strong prints without stringing or jams.
PETG is strong and practical but more sensitive than PLA. The right settings make the difference between a clean print and a stringy mess. Here's a reliable starting point.
Temperatures
- Nozzle: 230–250°C
- Bed: 70–85°C
- Start in the middle and tune from your results
Speed and flow
PETG likes moderate speeds. Too fast weakens layer adhesion; too slow can cause blobbing.
- Print speed: 40–60 mm/s
- Flow: reduce slightly (~95%) to cut stringing
- Retraction: tune carefully to avoid strings
Cooling
Unlike PLA, PETG dislikes heavy cooling — it weakens layer bonding. Run the part fan at only 30–50%.
Bed adhesion
PETG sticks hard — sometimes too hard. Use a release layer (glue stick) to protect a glass bed, and raise the first-layer gap slightly.
Final tip
Print a small temperature tower to find the best temp for your specific spool — every color and brand differs a little. All PETG at Thlath Abaad is 1.75mm and high quality, suitable for most printers.
